Since this product is no longer supported. Has anyone looked into what we can do with these besides a door stop once the webpage goes down?
There has been a discussion on the forum as well as on facebook. The conclusion, at last for me, ist that it will no be worthwhile to invest a lot of time since there are other solutions available for below $200.
I have no interest in buying another controller as BB meets my needs. As long as it works offline, I'm happy. However, I would contribute if someone was working on further fixes/improvements but I'm in no position to run such a campaign.
@ajrose what makes you think the site is going down? The last thing I remember reading from the devs/creaters, they had found cheap hosting to move to and were planning to keep it up.
They did move it to a cheap hosting site, but even cheap isn't free and there's no telling if/when they might decided to pull the plug. Just like none of us expected them to pull the plug on the whole project.
It wouldn't become a brick workout the website. It can be run just fine offline. You will lose the ability to create profiles and to monitor/update remotely though.
I think many would pay to host the data. I think we could make the Facebook page the forum and just have data support. Maybe we have a limit on the account data storage so it stays cheap, but at least we get to keep the functions that made these better than a 2-stage Ranco controller.
